Inside the cavernous mechanical rooms beneath Denver International Airport's Jeppesen Terminal, a critical layer of infrastructure is getting a financial boost. The Denver City Council has approved a $2,295,590 increase to an existing contract, bringing the total value to $2,695,590 for the purchase of ABB Brand HVAC drives and accessories.

This funding isn't for a flashy new terminal or a luxury lounge; it targets the unseen systems that regulate air quality and temperature for millions of passengers. The resolution, adopted in Council District 11, extends the master purchase order with Integrated Services 3R LLC without altering the project's timeline.

The upgrade arrives as the airport navigates its most aggressive modernization period in history. This $2.3 million allocation is a small but vital component of a broader $13 billion investment plan currently reshaping DIA. While the final phase of the Great Hall renovation transforms the public face of the airport, these HVAC enhancements ensure the building's lungs continue to function efficiently as energy demands rise.

City officials are also pairing these mechanical upgrades with a push toward alternative energy sources to meet future climate goals. As the airport expands its footprint and passenger capacity, maintaining reliable heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems becomes as critical as the runways themselves. The contract with Integrated Services 3R LLC, located at the airport complex (ZIP 80261), secures the specific components needed to keep the facility running through the winter freeze and summer heat.
