Denver is seeing a surge in gunfire targeting occupied buildings at the same time that construction activity is accelerating across the city.
This trend creates a volatile environment for emergency responders who must navigate both structural hazards and active violence. Public records at 3180 W Clyde Pl show that seven-day permit turnarounds are speeding up redevelopment in areas now facing increased arson and gunfire.
Between January 10 and February 3, 2026, police documented at least eight separate incidents of gunfire into occupied structures. In the Five Points neighborhood, two people were injured in the 2300 block of Welton St on January 13, while four others were hurt on N Raritan St on January 10. Other incidents occurred in the Overland neighborhood on S Fox St (Jan 31), Mar Lee on S Yates St (Jan 27), and Westwood on W Nevada Pl (Jan 13).
The violence extends to major corridors and other residential pockets. An aggravated assault involving weapon fire occurred at 2023 S Colorado Blvd on February 3, following over 230 service requests along that stretch. Additional reports of gunfire were noted on S Cherokee St in the Baker neighborhood on January 18 and E Archer Dr in Lowry Field on January 22.
