This event marks the 14th high-severity assault or weapon-related felony documented by Denver police in a 55-day window. The spike impacts residents across Five Points, Villa Park, and Lincoln Park, where serious crimes are now occurring weekly.
The surge began in January with a weapon-related felony at 605 26th St on Jan. 28 and another at 2401 E Colfax Ave on Jan. 30. In Five Points, police responded to a felony assault at 2215 Court Pl on Jan. 17 and a weapon-related felony at 2139 Welton St on Jan. 31. Other January incidents occurred at 1420 N Clarkson St and 1250 N Logan St.
Violence continued into February with two aggravated assaults on Feb. 7—one at 4930 N Zuni St involving two victims and another at 4242 Wynkoop St. A weapon-related felony was also reported on N Perry St in Villa Park on Feb. 8.
The geographic spread of these 14 incidents covers major corridors like Colfax and Welton, as well as residential blocks in Lincoln Park and Villa Park.
