Property owners on Temple Street are overhauling their fire suppression systems following a flurry of safety filings in February.

The upgrades target high-traffic commercial properties near the intersection of Worcester Road, where residents and shoppers frequently encounter congestion.

At 19 Temple St, the site of the Stop and Shop plaza, a permit for a new sprinkler system was approved on February 16. Nearby at 257 Temple St, an office building saw three filings in just 48 hours: a sprinkler system permit on February 26, followed by two separate fire alarm installation permits on February 27.

These infrastructure changes coincide with a spike in police activity along the corridor. Between March 2 and March 13, Framingham police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 4 Temple St, a traffic stop at 19 Temple St, and multiple incidents at the intersection of Worcester Road and Temple St.

Residents should expect construction activity at 257 Temple St as the new alarm and sprinkler systems are installed.
